I was thrilled to be invited back by LOFT for another live chainstitch embroidery retail activation, at their Brinton Lakes store in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. For the holiday season, LOFT treated customers to complimentary custom embroidery with purchase, turning an ordinary shopping trip into a little something special.
For this event, I created a bespoke holiday embroidery menu featuring seasonal designs, along with options for personalized names, initials, and other custom requests.
I had a lot of fun dreaming up the menu display, which I designed to look like a giant holiday present, complete with a bow and all the festive embroidery options. LOFT gave me creative freedom to bring the experience to life, which is always appreciated!
One of the things I love about working with retail brands is finding ways to make the embroidery feel like a natural extension of their store and products, rather than something that's simply been added to the sales floor.
In preparation for the event, LOFT mailed me garments in advance so I could embroider samples showcasing the designs customers could choose from. Having those samples on display was a great way to show shoppers what was possible and get them excited about personalizing their purchases.
Personalized Gifts That Tell a Story
The most popular item of the day? PAJAMAS!
LOFT had a matching pajama set that customers loved, and many opted to have their initials embroidered onto their new cozy purchases. A personalized pajama set makes a pretty great holiday gift, if you ask me.
But some of my favorite requests were the ones that went beyond the embroidery menu:
One customer requested three little hearts embroidered on a sleeve to represent her three daughters. Another asked for a wave pattern with four waves, one for each member of her family.
I absolutely adore requests like these! There's something really special about taking an everyday garment and adding a small, meaningful detail that makes it entirely your own.
And LOFT customers certainly weren't short on creativity!
