Print Design & Game Development

Print Design & Game Development

The capstone for my Digital Art & Media Design certificate program allowed us to create our own project, so long as it met standard criteria and participated in artistic themes of reframing initial context into a different perspective.  I jumped at the opportunity to create something I've always wanted - a Real Housewives of New York themed Murder Mystery Party.

I created a 36-page downloadable pdf packet, all printable to 8x10 paper, for anybody to host their own murder mystery party.  I wrote the mystery myself using all the superfan knowledge I have from being a Bravo addict, designed the game layout, palette and logo, and drew original illustrations of each housewife for their designated game pages.  As part of the game, I incorporated secret clues that were revealed in each round of gameplay created in Adobe Illustrator.

My game was made available on an e-commerce site (linked here) complete with a landing page and product page in which I highlighted my product's offerings and value.  I printed all the game content, photographed, and edited all of the photo content in Photoshop.

Cohesive Design

Creating brand guidelines as a starting point for my game creation was key in helping me make decisions throughout the design process.  I started with a color palette and logo, inspired by the television franchise series and the themes upon which I knew I would draw upon in writing the story behind the game.

Digital Files & Game Creation

The game includes everything needed to host your own murder mystery party.  That means invitations, character guidance, rules scripts, and gameplay props like nametags, voting cards, and evidence are included in the package.  Below are examples of materials in the package.

E-Commerce & Landing Page

The game I designed is meant to be delivered via digital files.  I created a website in which visitors could purchase my game, delivered via a digital download, pdf file.  The site features a landing page and a marketplace, where potential customers can learn more about the game before deciding to purchase.  I staged a photoshoot and photographed all the printed materials to show customers what is included.
