Live Chainstitch Embroidery for Veronica Beard's VIP Phillies Event
Luxury blazers, custom Phillies embroidery, and a room full of baseball WAGs? Is this real life?
I had the absolute pleasure of teaming up with Veronica Beard and the Philadelphia Phillies for a very special VIP shopping event celebrating the opening of Veronica Beard's new Rittenhouse Square location.
As a lifelong Phillies fan, let me tell you, this was a BIG deal for me!
The event brought together the wives and girlfriends of Phillies players for an afternoon of shopping, champagne, and personalized fashion. I was there with my trusty chainstitch embroidery machine, ready to add a little handmade magic to Veronica Beard's iconic dickey blazers.
What a dream combination!
Custom Phillies Embroidery Meets Luxury Fashion
One of my favorite things about live chainstitch embroidery is getting to collaborate with brands to create something truly unique for their guests.
For this event, I hand-drew a collection of Phillies-inspired embroidery designs that could be added to Veronica Beard's signature blazers, along with names and monograms.
And here's where things got REALLY exciting.
The Phillies granted us exclusive permission to embroider their classic and vintage P logos onto the blazers!
YESSSSSSS!
In addition to the custom embroidery, I also stitched Phillies patches provided by the team onto the garments wherever the ladies wanted them.
Each guest had the opportunity to create something completely personal, whether that meant commemorating their favorite player, adding a name, or incorporating a little Phillies pride into their wardrobe.
I loved seeing how differently everyone approached their designs!
A Little Embroidery Goes a Long Way on a Beautiful Blazer
Let's talk about the blazers themselves.
Veronica Beard makes some seriously beautiful clothing, and their iconic dickey blazers are no exception. These are thoughtfully constructed, tailored garments, so placement was especially important.
I worked closely with the store associates and each guest to determine where the embroidery would look best while respecting the craftsmanship of the garment.
We considered lapels, cuffs, pockets, and other placements to find just the right spot for each design.
One of the things I love about working with luxury retail brands is that the embroidery doesn't need to be huge to make an impact. Sometimes a little detail tucked onto a cuff or lapel is all it takes to make a garment feel entirely your own.
And because chainstitch embroidery is guided by hand, there's something really special about watching those details come to life right in front of you.
I was especially honored to see how the ladies chose to commemorate their husbands and partners through their customizations. It was such a sweet way to celebrate their connection to the team while creating something stylish and personal.
A VIP Shopping Experience, Complete with Champagne!
The entire event was such a lovely experience.
While guests worked with me to customize their blazers, they enjoyed hors d'oeuvres served by waitstaff, champagne, and Aperol spritzes.
The Veronica Beard team was incredibly attentive, helping shoppers select their pieces and working alongside me to make sure each customization complemented the garment.
It was a classy affair, and everyone felt pampered!
This is one of the reasons I think live chainstitch embroidery works so beautifully for VIP retail events.
Rather than simply shopping for a new piece of clothing, guests get to participate in creating something that's uniquely theirs.
They can choose a design, select its placement, and watch it being embroidered in real time. It's a little bit of entertainment, a little bit of personal styling, and a one-of-a-kind keepsake all rolled into one.
And for a brand like Veronica Beard, where the details matter, the personalization felt like such a natural addition to the shopping experience.
When the Party Ends, the Embroidery Doesn't Have To!
One of my favorite things about this event was how excited the guests were about their customizations.
In fact, the event was so well received that Veronica Beard sent me home with additional orders from guests who had finalized their selections with the store over the phone!
And because I'm local to Philadelphia, I was able to complete those orders and personally deliver the finished pieces back to the store the very next day.
I love being able to offer that kind of flexibility.
When I work with retail brands, my goal is always to make the embroidery experience feel thoughtful and seamless, both for the customers and for the store team.
That means collaborating on design options, understanding which garments are suitable for customization, working through placement decisions, and figuring out how to accommodate orders within the event's timeline.
My background in project management comes in especially handy when coordinating all those moving parts.
I want the brand to feel confident that the experience is being handled professionally, while guests get to enjoy the fun part — creating something special!
A Phillies Fan's Dream Come True
Okay, now for the personal part.
I have been a Phillies fan for as long as I can remember.
I'm a multi-year six-pack ticket holder, and I was lucky enough to attend a game during the 2008 World Series. I even called into WIP Radio from the K-Lot to talk about how excited I was to see Jamie Moyer pitch!
So when the opportunity came along to embroider for the Phillies WAGs, I was beyond excited.
But don't worry, I kept my cool!
What made the experience especially memorable was getting to know the women themselves. I left with such an appreciation for the unique lifestyle that comes with professional baseball — moving cities when contracts change, making new friends, and creating a sense of home wherever the game takes you.
Everyone was so kind and gracious, and I felt genuinely honored to be part of their afternoon.
It's definitely one of those embroidery events I'll be talking about for a long time!
